What a bid history should tell you
A bid history is not decoration. It is the only part of an auction that a collector can actually audit.
Most auction pages show a number and a count. That tells you almost nothing. A useful bid history shows when a bid arrived, whether it was accepted or rejected, and why.
It also shows what it does not show. Maximum bids of other participants stay hidden. If your maximum is lower than the current leader's, your bid is accepted and you are outbid immediately — that is the mechanism working, not an error.
The rules have to be boring and precise: a published increment table, a defined anti-sniping rule (120 seconds, up to 20 extensions), server time as the only clock, and a deterministic answer to equal maximum bids.
Our demo implements exactly these rules so that you can test them: place a low maximum, then a higher one, then watch the price move without your maximum being disclosed.
