The planned fee model
Senest opdateret: 2026-10-25 · Udkast
1. Buyer fee: half of the comparable buyer fee
For a regular euro-denominated car auction our planned buyer fee is 50 % of the comparable buyer fee of the reference platform.
Our model: 3 % net — minimum 500 EUR — maximum 3.500 EUR.
Reference basis used for comparison: 6 % net — minimum 1.000 EUR — maximum 7.000 EUR.
Formulas: reference = min(max(price × 6 %, 1.000), 7.000); our model = reference × 0,5.
The halving refers to the buyer fee. It does not mean that the car or the whole transaction becomes half as expensive.
2. The three rules: percentage, minimum, maximum (cap)
The fee is determined in three steps, always in this order:
Percentage: 3 % of the hammer price (net).
Minimum: at least 500 EUR, even if 3 % would be less. This applies to prices up to 16.666 EUR.
Maximum (cap): at most 3.500 EUR, even if 3 % would be more. The cap applies from a hammer price of 116.667 EUR upwards; above that amount the fee does not grow any further.
The same three rules apply to the reference fee (6 %, minimum 1.000 EUR, maximum 7.000 EUR); its cap is reached at a hammer price of 116.667 EUR as well.
The cap is a real limit, not a recommendation: no buyer pays more than 3.500 EUR buyer fee in this model, however expensive the car is.
3. Worked examples
10.000 EUR → reference 1.000 EUR (minimum applies) · ours 500 EUR (minimum applies)
50.000 EUR → reference 3.000 EUR · ours 1.500 EUR
100.000 EUR → reference 6.000 EUR · ours 3.000 EUR
150.000 EUR → reference 7.000 EUR (cap) · ours 3.500 EUR (cap)
200.000 EUR → reference 7.000 EUR (cap) · ours 3.500 EUR (cap)
The saving therefore grows with the price up to the cap and stays constant above it.
4. Reference fee: source, check date and limits
The reference is the buyer's premium of Collecting Cars: 6 % net on the hammer price, capped, payable by the successful bidder (plus VAT where applicable).
Sources checked on 25 October 2026: collectingcars.com/faqs (buyer's premium “just 6 %” and capped; minimum and maximum values “depending on the buyer's location”) and a Collecting Cars listing note for a number plate (6 % premium, minimum 300 GBP, maximum 6.000 GBP).
Limits of this comparison: minimum and maximum values depend on the buyer's location, and fee schedules can change. The euro values used here (1.000 EUR / 7.000 EUR) are therefore an assumption for a regular euro-denominated passenger-car auction, not a general statement about all formats or countries. They must be re-checked against the applicable fee schedule before any real operation.
The comparison covers the buyer fee only — not transport, storage, inspection, taxes or seller-side costs.
5. Seller participation: rate not decided
The seller receives a share of our net commission in addition to the vehicle sale price. The exact percentage is not decided yet. We do not invent a binding rate.
In the calculator you can simulate a rate to see how the split behaves. A simulated rate is a planning aid, not a promise. Without an entered rate the calculator shows: “Seller participation: rate to be determined.”
Seller participation is part of our fee model. It is not a referral bonus and not a multi-level reward programme.
6. Net, gross and taxes
All amounts in the calculator are net amounts. VAT is not added, because the tax treatment of a concrete transaction depends on the parties, their status and the country involved.
We do not present binding end prices while the tax classification of a concrete transaction is open. Whether and in which amount VAT applies will be determined for a real operation, per case.
The remaining platform share shown next to the seller bonus is not profit: it has to cover payment processing, support, marketing and operations, none of which is quantified here.
7. Open points before a real operation
The seller participation rate is not decided.
The binding fee schedule for the target market (currency, seller type, vehicle category) has to be verified against the reference platform's schedule in force at that time.
The tax treatment of the buyer fee (commission) and the invoicing requirements are to be clarified.
Until then this page is a transparent description of a plan, not an offer.
